BUILDING PERMITS/ OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE
The St. Martin Parish Government Planning and Zoning Department is responsible for subdivision plan review and approval, property standards violations, zoning, and the enforcement of the following ordinances.

Louisiana Economic Development has a portfolio of groundbreaking business incentives and financial programs to help small businesses grow and empower entrepreneurs. For detailed information on incentives and financial assistance, click here.
Business incentives funded by the State of Louisiana to attract and cultivate business include:
- The Enterprise Zone (EZ) Program --a JOBS incentive program that provides Louisiana Income and Franchise tax credits to a business hiring a minimum number of net new employees. Click here to find if your business is located in an Enterprise Zone.
- Industrial Property Tax Exemption --Louisiana’s original incentive program for capital investments, and is for MANUFACTURERS only.
- Quality Jobs Program --promotes economic development by encouraging businesses to create well-paid jobs.
- Restoration Tax Abatement Program encourages the expansion, restoration, improvement and development of existing commercial structures and owner-occupied residences in specified districts.
- Research & Development Tax Credit encourages existing businesses with operating facilities in Louisiana to establish or continue research and development activities within the state.
- Industry Assistance Program provides a tax exemption when manufacturers and their contractors give preference and priority to Louisiana manufacturers or Louisiana suppliers, engineers, contractors and labor.
- Tax Equalization Program attracts, retains and encourages the expansion of manufacturing establishments, headquarters, warehousing and distribution establishments to Louisiana that would not do so in Louisiana due to a higher tax burden.
State Financial Assistance Programs designed to assist Louisiana's small businesses include: Economic Development Award Program, Small Business Loan Program, Micro Loan Program, Contract Loan Program, Venture Capital Match Program, Minority Venture Capital Match Program, Venture Capital Co-Investment Program, Louisiana Seed Capital Investment Program, BIDCO Investment Program, Specialty BIDCO Investment Program and the Workforce Development Program.
